Each of the children rescued
by Kids Alive has come from a desperate situation. Some may have been living on the streets while others were abused. Some
have AIDS, and still others may be a true orphan or have been abandoned. These children are victims
of war, disease, and poverty. In some cases a parent may be living, but
are too sick, in jail, or may be physically and/or mentally
unable to care for the child’s needs.
The primary outreach of Kids Alive is to care for, train, and disciple children and youth
through the means most appropriate for the ministry. Kids Alive International has
residential care facilities, day programs, and schools.
The age when a child enters the Kids Alive ministry varies according to the
ministry location. Most children enter at about age 5 and stay through high school.
The child stays until he or she has an adequate family environment or
until able to function as an independent member within the local culture.
The main goal of Kids Alive is to raise children to be productive citizens and
effective witnesses in their community. With this in mind, Kids Alive does not operate as an adoption agency.
