KAI Team Spotlight: Judex Prophète

KAI Team Spotlight

Meet Judex Prophète, a member of our Kids Alive Haiti team.

Discover how Judex makes an #IMPACTTHATHEALS at Kids Alive International!

How long have you been at KAI, and what inspired you to join?

Judex has been working at KAI since 2010. As a child, his mom was an educator, and his older brother worked with vulnerable children. They often brought him to their workplaces, where he saw firsthand the impact they were making. As he got older, he would step in as a substitute teacher for his mom's class when needed. These experiences deepened his love and fueled his passion for working with vulnerable children.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know?

Judex is also a relationship counselor. His role at Kids Alive often involves meeting students' parents. When the parents are separated, he helps them address their differences and work towards reconciliation, whenever possible, for the well-being of the child. His experience provides a unique opportunity to strengthen families, fostering healing and justice.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?

Responsible for school discipline, Judex is often confronted with violations of even the most basic regulations. This happens both at the beginning and end of the year, despite numerous reminders of the rules. Cooperation between parents and students can be challenging.

However, over time, he has learned to be patient and repeat the same principles as many times as necessary. “It worked! The number of these cases has decreased,” Judex shared.

Can you share a story about a specific child, family, or program that shows how God is working in lives through KAI?

“KAH globally testifies the greatness of God”, declared Judex. He particularly wants to emphasize the enormous transformation he observed in the lives of vulnerable children who came from Port-au-Prince after the destructive earthquake. These children, from neighborhoods known to be dangerous and even witnesses to crimes, were difficult to manage at first. But through hearing the word of God over time, the Holy Spirit gradually bore the fruit of self-control in their lives. Their behavior has improved, and it has been incredible to witness this change.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get involved in nonprofit work?

Working in a nonprofit is challenging. Anyone looking to get involved needs to be sure they are truly passionate about the cause. Put your heart into it, and don't focus on the money—God will reward you.

What does KAI's new tagline mean to you personally in your work?
Justice that heals. Bonds that mend.

KAI seeks justice for the marginalized in classrooms and courtrooms, addressing root issues and promoting healing from trauma. We empower children, families, and communities through restorative education, protective care, family strengthening, and justice advocacy. KAI embodies “Justice that Heals. Bonds that Mend.”, walking with vulnerable children towards justice and healing in 7 countries. By being a beacon of hope for these children, they become beacons of hope for their families and communities.

"The tagline really resonates with my role, as I often have to judge situations, handle cases, and correct students. It's crucial for us to advocate for justice while preserving the bonds between the students involved, as well as between them and the disciplinary staff. I believe this is essential for maintaining a healthy atmosphere at Kids Alive Haiti," Judex shares.
