Zambia is rich in culture, natural wonders, and resources and is known for hospitality and warm, friendly people who generously welcome visitors. It also struggles with the traumas of child homelessness, sexual abuse, and violence. Our restorative education, family strengthening, protective care, and justice advocacy programs enable us to prevent and respond to the effects of these traumas. Our goal for each child is to know the love of God, to understand they are cherished, and to be equipped with the emotional, physical, and spiritual tools they need to thrive.
Give NowSarah, an 8 year old girl, was brought to Kids Alive Zambia shortly after she was sexually abused by a family member. During her time at Kids Alive, she underwent intensive counseling that helped her recover from the fear of adult males she had developed. Sarah learned about healthy boundaries, how to keep herself safe, and how to deal with difficult feelings arising from the trauma she had suffered. Most importantly, Sarah learned and understood the meaning of being a child of God and the love he has for his children. After several months of being at the Kids Alive Center for Justice, she was reunified with her family and enrolled into a local school. You can be a part of more transformative stories like Sarah's.

“Safe Havens” are Kids Alive’s global programs that focus on family strengthening through family care centers, protective care through residential homes and foster care, or justice advocacy through justice centers. Our goal is to bring a team of professional staff dedicated to meeting each child’s unique needs for health, justice, and emotional healing as needed by the unique circumstances of the child. These teams work tirelessly, in whichever Safe Haven they enter, to lead children to emotional health, equip the child and their family for independence and service, disciple them to a transforming relationship with God, and when needed, help them find justice and freedom from fear.
