Lebanon

At Kids Alive Lebanon, children recently participated in a powerful activity to express their emotions and care for one another. Sitting in pairs, they shared how they were feeling—anxious, sad, overwhelmed—and their partner placed a band-aid where it "hurt" most. A band-aid found its place on the heart for heavy emotions, on the forehead for anxious thoughts, or anywhere else pain was felt.

This simple yet profound exercise helped kids acknowledge each other's feelings and reminded them they are seen, heard, and loved. Healing happens in community, and no child should carry their burdens alone.

Kenya

We believe in the power of restoration, healing, and hope at Kids Alive. Our Nairobi Hope Center shined a light this past December as they gathered 80 children and caregivers for a special Family Day—a time of reflection, reconciliation, and celebration of their journey toward healing. Guided by our therapist and staff, families had the space to reconnect, process past hurts, and experience trauma-informed support designed to mend deep wounds.

The day ended with a beautiful lesson on “sharing love”—symbolized by cutting and sharing a cake together. It was more than just a meal; it was a moment of unity, reminding every child and caregiver that they are seen, valued, and never alone.

At Kids Alive, we are committed to creating Bonds That Mend and bringing Justice That Heals. Because when families heal, communities are transformed.

Zambia

Mulenga and Bwalya were brought to Kids Alive Zambia Center for Justice in August 2024 after their mother suffered a breakdown and was unable to care for them.

When they first arrived, they struggled to interact with the other kids and took time to assimilate to their new environment. With the proper care and time, they eventually settled in and became more social, playing with their friends. The proper care and nurturing allowed the boys to learn practical skills and develop healthy behaviors.

In January 2025, after their mother had received the help she needed, she came to pick the boys up so they could go and start a new life together. The children were excited to see their mom after such a long time and, through the care they received, were ready to begin anew as a family. This is how Kids Alive creates bonds that mend and provides kids and families with what they need to walk a healthier road.

Dominican Republic

The restorative education programs that Kids Alive has put in place in the Dominican Republic provide bright futures for kids who have faced trauma and hardship. Over 80 graduates of Kids Alive DR schools are now university students pursuing degrees in medicine, business, accounting, civil engineering, dentistry, modern languages, education, architecture, computer science, and tourism.

Kids Alive DR has a club for these university students, serving as a community connection point and place. Students share experiences and stories, read scripture, and develop bonds that help them succeed. We are so encouraged to see young men and women who desire to serve, work, and strive for a life of independence, paving the way to a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

Guatemala

Kids Alive Guatemala welcomed a very special guest—Judge Michael Key, a champion for children's rights with over 30 years of experience in juvenile justice. His visit wasn't just symbolic; it was an opportunity to foster real change, reinforcing the heart of Justice That Heals—a vision he helped inspire.

One early morning, Judge Key sat down with Judge Marvin, a children's court judge in Escuintla, over coffee and deep conversation. They shared their personal journeys—how their humble beginnings led them to pursue justice for vulnerable children. They exchanged experiences, challenges, and victories in their respective justice systems—one in Guatemala, the other in the U.S.—creating a powerful moment of mutual learning and connection.

This meeting was a first step toward lasting collaboration. Kids Alive Guatemala is committed to working with experts like Judge Key to strengthen the justice system, provide training, and advocate for kids who need protection the most.

Haiti

Kids Alive Haiti recently hosted a prayer retreat! Students, staff, and the community gathered to celebrate God's protection and provision. Various speakers shared about God's promises through meditation on key Bible passages.

Psalms 46:1-3 & 7 remind us that God is our refuge and fortress.

Philippians 4:19 helps us remember that God will provide and is faithful.

Jeremiah 29:11 shows us that we can renew our hope in Christ.

After time in scripture, everyone joined in praise and worshipped God together. Finally, everyone shared prayer requests, laying them at the feet of Jesus and leaving the event lighter than before. We believe in creating spaces where children and communities can grow in faith, find healing, and experience God's love.

This retreat was a beautiful reminder that true joy and security come not from the world, but from trusting in His promises. As we continue to #RestoreHope and build brighter futures, we stand firm in our mission—to protect, empower, and equip every child with the truth that they are deeply loved by God.

Peru

Ángelo’s (pseudonym for safety) childhood was marked by abandonment and hardship. Left without parental care, he lived on the streets—working odd jobs and battling addiction to survive. But his story didn’t end there. After being placed in protective custody, Ángelo found refuge at the Kids Alive Peru Juniper Tree Residential Care Center, where his life began to change.

Through education, emotional support, and spiritual care, Ángelo started to heal. He graduated high school and then received training in hospitality and tourism, strengthened his tech skills, and even taught baking classes to younger students. Most importantly, he found faith—accepting Christ into his heart at a Bible camp. With the love and correction of his caregivers, Ángelo was also able to reunite with his mother at a #KidsAlive Family Gathering—a moment of restoration and hope.

Today, Ángelo is thriving, equipped with skills, faith, and confidence for the future. His story is a testament to how #JusticeThatHeals restores lives, giving children like Ángelo the tools and support they need to build brighter futures.
